Saturn Return, the Wall, Female Biology, and the Astrology of the Manosphere Discourse

I have always been fascinated by the Saturn return, I have Saturn in the First House and nearly lost my right foot at the time of my Saturn return. But being a man, I have always associated the crisis of the age of 29-30, the time of the Saturn return, with career and education choices made in the late teens and early twenties. Chickens will come home to roost, your choices will be evaluated, and you will see the results of your labour or the lack of it. However, I was not very aware how the transiting Saturn plays out in the lives of women.

The second half of Saturn cycle, from the age of 14-15, the time of the opposition of natal and transiting Saturns, until the Saturn return at the age of 30 is a woman's prime reproductive age. After the age of thirty comes what the Manosphere calls the Wall, this is where the sexual market value of a woman begins diminishing rather fast. A process of turning a princess into a Baba Yaga, an old crone with a pride of cats, remember Saturn rules time. What the modern women are seen doing at their Saturn return is they are trying to find a husband to settle down. But it is hard, anything associated with Saturn is. The amount of articles about 30+ women not being able to find a husband in mainstream media is staggering.

I am intrigued by the very term "Wall" because from the astrological perspective walls and boundaries are the domain of Saturn. Here we see an example of collective consciousness creating naturally an archetypal discourse. Crucial in the development of a young lady are the early twenties, long before she hits the Wall, this where the urge of responsibility caused by the waning square of the the Saturn cycle meets with the waxing square of the Uranus cycle, which represents a rising rebellious spirit. You will reap the seeds you sow, the mythological Saturn also taught people agriculture. The astrologer, Robert Hand described the choice of the early 20s as:

The Saturn square Saturn, ... , is a crisis concerning social integration and the fulfilment of the social obligations and expectations. The Uranus square Uranus is a crisis that challenges the individual to continually renew his or her life structures so that they remain supportive instead of restrictive. If these two issues are in conflict, as they are to some extent in most people's lives, then this will be a period of tension during which the individual must make a choice between the following two questions: "Do I do what is socially expected of me, fully assume the role of an adult with complete set of responsibilities, and to some extent, deny my inner need for continued growth and experimentation?

See Hand Robert, Essays on Astrology, pp. 82-83

But really, we have to ask what is the society telling young women? The society expects women to spend their best reproductive years pursuing education and careers, being independent women, and being as independent in their choices of men. Don't you dare suggest to a modern woman that the best course of action is to make the best use of their reproductive age, and not go against their biology. In the spirit of societal norms that have become dominant, the American feminists have given us the most cringeworthy protest of our generation, the Slut Walk, and the concurrent term: "slut shaming". The slutwalkers have worn ridiculous pink pussy hats, this is to remind you of where the social norms stand. I personally think the feminists have sold young women a bag of goods here.

Being a mundane astrologer and a social historian, I attribute the social norms to the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s, which coincidently was concurrent with Uranus-Pluto conjunction. Also, we see archetypal signs of the emerging Aeon of Aquarius. It was brought about by the invention and market introduction of the contraceptive pill. It is a truly Aquarian story of a scientific discovery making the sexes somewhat equal, and suddenly women had the chance to have unprotected sex without the consequences of pregnancy. But women are different to men, while the men have to put the effort into getting a mate, women just have to be nice. It is erroneous to think that men are just as promiscuous as women because most men do not have the options.

The 1960s have seen women liberation movements, and protests against the patriarchy, that is against perceived male dominance. Many radical feminists, that get a lot traction in the media, and in the academia have rejected men altogether. Modern society with all its conveniences allows the women to act all rebellious against the opposite sex, however despite all the bravado, I have seen countless women who find it difficult to live without a man. The Slut Walk happened just in time for the Uranus-Pluto square, in 2011, the first hard aspect of these two planets since the pivotal 1960s, the time of the conjunction. It was a reassertion of the values of 1960s. However, at the same time, the growth of the internet and social media have opened completely new avenues. Now we have dating apps that further somewhat empower the women, they give women even easier access to the dating market, which is messing it up even more. We have the Manosphere, where men discuss women from the perspective of male interest.

Most of people in their 30s today, will be born in the 1980s and 1990s, and will have their Pluto, the planet of the sexual power in Libra (1980s) and Scorpio (1990s) (Note: I use the sidereal Zodiac), that is at least in the second case very strong as Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio but what we are seeing is people actually having less sex than they had in the 1960s. The 1960s gave us our parents, the boomers, when Pluto was transiting Leo. Leo rules the Fifth House, the house of procreation, while Scorpio is the Eighth House of sex and death. Interestingly, Libra is the Seventh House of marriages and contracts. These Pluto in Scorpio women are death, their reproduction rate is below the replacement rate. Reports have it people are having less actual sex while our culture is thoroughly sexualised. But what all these signs ranging from Leo to Scorpio deal with are relations people have to other people, the signs following are more about the general worldview and society, which allow for some optimism. Pluto is a transformator, which will run through these signs and transform the society and worldview.

Pluto reaches the sign it is weakest at, Aquarius in the 2040s and comes into opposition with Uranus in Leo. Last time this happened, this was the time of the French Revolution, and back then we have seen the early beginnings of feminism, with the publication of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792. It would be exactly 250 years ago and Pluto would have gone full circle through the Zodiac, we will literally arrive at the beginning. Men of the future will look at the epoch of 1960s-2040s as a time of folly, we might even see a new Victorian era by the time of the next conjunction in 2100s for all I care. However, the next conjunction 2104 will be in Aries, so I doubt it.

Update: What Saturn Return looks like, extreme example Amy Winehouse, died in 2011, born 1983
